CazBikeBlog

A bi-weekly blog about cycling. Mostly related to Cazenovia routes, residents, sights, and inspiration.

Welcome to the CazBikeBlog

I know, I know. Blogs are a dusty old platform these days. But I’ve been thinking about this for awhile, and every time I’m out for a ride, it comes back to the top of my thought stack. So, I’m going to give it a try. The CazBikeBlog is here to celebrate cycling in our area.

The premise: a biweekly article about bicycling in and around Cazenovia, New York. Since moving here six years ago, I’ve enjoyed some of the best biking of my life. Long, well-mainted rural roads with inspirational scenery, considerate motorists, and plenty of hills. Oh, the hills.

But that’s not all. This is a community of cyclists. Practically everyone I meet enjoys riding locally or taking tours, nationally and internationally. Whether they’re training for triathlons, getting out for simple exercise, or turning on an ebike for a new perspective, it’s wonderful to find so many kindred cycling spirits.

In the months ahead, I’ll share conversations with many of those folks. We’ll talk about local group rides, cool-weather training, solo odysseys, mountain, gravel, and road riding, races that are local and in the ADK. We’ll chat with bike-lovers about their nasty crashes, gear addictions, fitness tips, and favorite routes.

My first actual blog will be in about 10 days, after Lisa (my bicycle-loving wife) and I go to the World Cycling Championships in Montreal. We’ll see the women’s and men’s pro races. I don’t have a press pass or access to the pros. But I’m excited to share the experience! Stay tuned.

In the meantime, if you have article suggestions, please add them to the comments or email me at word2rapp@gmail.com. I look forward to talking and riding with you soon.
